Latest Adovacy Letters


The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is responsible for advancing the interests of more than 5 million Hispanic-owned businesses through our Congressional advocacy. The following letters capture the work of the USHCC, our partners, and interested stakeholders. This Congressional advocacy covers a wide range of policy issues that affect the economic prosperity of Hispanic business and the more than 62 million Latinos/as living in the United States. ​

  1. May 2, 2022: Advocacy letter regarding proposed legislation that seeks to indirectly cap credit interchange via routing mandates on payment networks, small banks, and credit unions.
  2. April 26, 2022: Letter to the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works Re: Request the inclusion of the Revitalizing Small and Local Businesses Act (S.3340) as part of EDA re-authorizing legislation to invest in place-based economic development initiatives that support small businesses and the places in which they operate.
  3. April 26, 2022: Letter to the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Re: Request the inclusion of the Revitalizing Small and Local Businesses Act (H.R.7451) as part of EDA re-authorizing legislation to invest in place-based economic development initiatives that support small businesses and the places in which they operate.
  4. April 20, 2022: Urge legislators to restore funding for the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) that was cut as part of the Bipartisan COVID Supplemental Appropriations Act.
  5. April 14, 2022: Letter to Gov. Greg Abbott concerning commercial circularity in the Texas-Mexico border region at specific land ports of entry.
  6. March 23, 2022: Small business leaders express their support for the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court. 
  7. March 9, 2022: Support the application submitted by the New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce (NYWCC), for funding to operate a new and much needed Women’s Business Center (WBC) in Manhattan. 
  8. March 8, 2022: Express support for the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court. 
  9. February 24, 2022: Strongly encourage Congress to pass bipartisan legislation that includes the following Medicaid provisions. 
  10. January 25, 2022: Immigration Reform for Arizona. 
  11. January 18, 2022: Urge policymakers to keep entrepreneurs as a leading stakeholder for all economic legislation.
  12. January 18, 2022: Letter RE: Upcoming Technology and Social Media Related Legislation.
  13. January 13, 2022: Joint Letter SBE Council and United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce RE: Healthcare Legislation.
  14. November 15, 2021: Express our concerns over developments in the Mexican energy sector and USMCA compliance. 
  15. November 15, 2021: Letter in support of the Temporary Family Visitation Act (TFVA). 
  16. October 26, 2021: Support for the Nomination of Reta Jo Lewis as President of U.S. Export-Import Bank.
  17. October 22, 2021: Letter in support of the Small Business Title in the Reconciliation Bill. 
  18. September 15, 2021: Express Support for Permanent Protections for TPS Holders. 
  19. August 9, 2021: Express support for the Main Street Efficiency Act (MSEA).
  20. August 2, 2021: Express strong support of Amendment #2163, which would codify the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) at the Department of Commerce.
  21. July 16, 2021: Ask for a new permanent, broadband benefit program for lower-income households, codified and funded by Congress through dedicated funding and funding for digital readiness through grants for community outreach at the local level, including to the non-English speaking members of the Latino community.
  22. June 22, 2021: Prioritize Latino Students in COVID-19 Recovery Plans.
  23. June 1, 2021: Express our support for the Temporary Family Visitation Act (TFVA).
  24. May 17, 2021: Business leaders show support for the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.
  25. May 14, 2021: Request to re-open ports of entry and remove travel restrictions between the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
  26. April 15, 2021: Express our concerns about California Assembly Bill 286, Food delivery: fees and tips.
  27. April 6, 2021: Advocate for Congress to adopt a long-term federally-funded broadband benefit program. 
  28. April 2, 2021: Commend the SEC for requiring all companies listed on Nasdaq's U.S. exchange to publicly disclose consistent, transparent diversity statistics regarding their board of directors. 
  29. March 31, 2021: Southern Border and Immigration Reform Letter.
  30. March 1, 2021: In support of the confirmation of Miguel Cardona to be the next U.S. Secretary of Education.
  31. February 2, 2021: In support of the confirmation of Gov. Gina Raimondo to serve in the Biden-Harris Administration as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce. 
  32. February 1, 2021: In support of the confirmation of Isabel Guzman to serve in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
  33. January 27, 2021: Share endorsement of Cecilia Rouse to serve as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.
  34. January 27, 2021: In support of the confirmation of Alejandro Mayorkas to serve in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 
  35. January 25, 2021: In support of President Biden's inauguration and express support for taking immediate executive action to protect Dreamers and commitment to passing bipartisan legislation that will provide them a pathway to citizenship. 
  36. January 20, 2021: Urge to hold fair and swift confirmation hearings to begin the important work of stabilizing our nation's economy. 
  37. November 12, 2020: Express our concern regarding actions by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) moving forward with a Request for Proposal (RFP) without due process to create a nationalized 5G network.
  38. October 1, 2020: Request urgent attention to the proliferating fraudulent business practice of selling falsified or stolen association mailing lists, and event attendee and/or exhibitor lists.
  39. August 12, 2020: U.S. Hispanic Chamber and Florida Chambers Urge Sen. Scott to cosponsor the National Museum of the American Latino Act (H.R. 2420).
  40. July 30, 2020: In support for the establishment of a new framework of portable, flexible benefits for independent workers to fund health care, sick leave and unemployment, funded entirely by businesses.
  41. July 29, 2020: In support for H.R. 5084 “Improving Corporate Governance through Diversity Act of 2019”.
  42. July 23, 2020: In support of the National Museum of the American Latino Act (S.1267).
  43. July 11, 2020​: Ask to leave DACA in place and refrain from taking any additional administrative actions that would negatively impact the DACA program.
  44. June 22, 2020: Comment on Main Street Lending Program
  45. June 8, 2020: Invest in the USA (IIUSA) to Help the U.S. Economy Create and Retain U.S. Jobs: Support EB-5 Regional Center Program Reform and Long-Term Reauthorization.
  46. March 5, 2020: Express our support for the Minority Business Development Act of 2020.​
